Large Animal Veterinary Technician
We are looking for a motivated and capable large animal veterinary technician to join our friendly mixed animal veterinary practice based in Bulls, but working out of our Marton clinic as well. This is a full time role, and a great opportunity to work within a supportive, experienced vet team and a strong rural community.
About the Role
This is a varied and hands-on position, ideal for someone who enjoys working with farmers, livestock, and being part of a collaborative rural practice. The role includes (but is not limited to):
- Blood sampling, vaccinating and bolus administration
- Debudding and dehorning
- Dry cow therapy and teatseal insertion
- Data collection and entry
- In-house laboratory work (milk cultures, FECs, nitrate testing)
- Assisting veterinarians on-farm as required
There are quieter periods throughout the year, and we are looking for someone who is resourceful and can find productive ways to contribute during these times. We are also open to them creating new initiatives that would develop their own client base if they had special interests.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a Rural Animal Technician Certificate, or has experience working as a large animal technician. Experience, with a solid skill set is ideal.
- Has excellent attention to detail and enjoys completing their work to a high standard
- Communicates clearly and professionally
- Has a natural ability to build rapport with clients
- Works well as part of a team
- Is adaptable, flexible, and highly organised
- Demonstrates strong time management skills
