Colostrum

Southern Rangitikei Veterinary Services 0 646
Colostrum is vital to successful calf rearing and studies estimate that over 40% of dairy calves do not get enough colostrum during the first day of their life. Newborn calves should be fed 10-15% of their body weight (4-5 litres for a 40 kg calf) of first-milking colostrum within the first 12 hours of life.
